“inspect, monitor and assess activities, practices and facilities for the purpose of verifying compliance with [the] Act [and] the regulations…”
The HSRA conducts inspection activities to provide an independent on-site assessment of facilities subject to authorization and confirm all documentary evidence received and processed by the Authorization department.
Inspections of facilities and activities shall also be commensurate with the radiation risks associated with the facility or activity, in accordance with a graded approach.
Regulatory inspection is performed to make an independent check on all relevant facilities to determine the state of the premises and associated activities and to provide confidence that they comply with HSRA’s safety objectives. This is achieved by confirming that:
The entity is in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and authorization conditions and all relevant codes, guides, specifications and practices.
